VoiceTranslate.io is an AI-powered translation service operated at voicetranslate.io. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].

2. What We Collect

We collect the minimum data needed to provide and improve the service:

• Translation content — text, voice input or images you submit for translation. This is processed to return a translation and is not permanently stored on our servers beyond what is needed to complete the request.
• Usage data — anonymous counters (e.g. number of translations per day) tied to a cookie or browser ID, used solely to enforce free-tier limits.
• Technical data — IP address (truncated), browser type, device type and general region. Used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate analytics.
• Payment data — if you upgrade to Pro, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

We do not collect your name, email address (unless you contact us), or any personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To perform and return translations you request
• To enforce daily usage limits for free-tier users
• To detect and prevent abuse or automated scraping
• To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the service
• To process Pro subscription payments via Stripe

We do not use your data for advertising targeting, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI models.

4. Local Storage & Cookies

VoiceTranslate.io stores the following data locally on your device using localStorage:

• Your translation history (stored only in your browser)
• Your language preferences
• Your Pro subscription status
• PWA install prompt dismissal

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

We use a session cookie to identify your browser for rate limiting purposes. This cookie contains no personal information.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Cloud AI / Gemini — powers our translation and image-reading engine. Text and images you submit are sent to Google's API. See Google's data processing terms.
• Stripe — handles Pro subscription payments. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Google AdSense — serves ads to free-tier users. Google may use cookies for ad personalisation. See Google's privacy policy.
• Railway — our hosting provider. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days.
• Cloudflare — provides DNS and DDoS protection. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

6. Voice & Camera Data

When you use voice translation, your microphone input is processed locally by your browser's Web Speech API (controlled by Google or Apple, depending on your browser) and/or sent to our translation API. We do not store raw audio recordings.

When you use camera or image translation, the image is sent to our server for OCR and translation processing and is deleted immediately after the response is returned. We do not store or index your images.

7. Data Retention

• Translation requests: not stored beyond the immediate session
• Anonymous usage counters: reset daily
• Server logs (IP, user agent): up to 30 days
• Local history: stored in your browser until you clear it
• Stripe billing records: retained per Stripe's legal obligations

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA or other privacy laws, including:

• The right to access data we hold about you
• The right to request deletion of your data
• The right to opt out of personalised advertising
• The right to data portability

9. Children's Privacy

VoiceTranslate.io is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
